Adrian and Ashley will discuss recent Louisiana cases in the field of construction and surety law and the possible import of these decisions to legal practitioners. They will be covering issues such as construction industry participants’ contract rights, cases regarding judicial interpretations of standard contract provisions, peremption, public bid law, claimants’ rights against sureties, and decisions regarding causes of action for construction industry participants.

Andrew Vicknair and Ashley Robinson Speaking at the ABA’s 2024 Regional Meeting: Infrastructure From The Ground Up

D’Arcy Vicknair’s founding partner, Andrew Vicknair, and special counsel, Ashley Robinson will be featured speakers at the American Bar Association’s upcoming 2024 Regional Meeting.

On December 5, 2024, in four convenient locations across the country (Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New Orleans), the ABA Forum on Construction Law will present “Infrastructure from the Ground Up: Civil Works Projects for Lawyers.” Taught by leading industry professionals in each location, this one-of-a-kind program provides a unique opportunity for both new and seasoned construction lawyers, as well as other construction industry participants, to gain a fundamental understanding of the key engineering and construction issues that govern major civil works projects, or “horizontal” construction.

Andy and Ashley will be presenting Session Four: Power, which will examine the unique legal issues involved in power plant projects.

They will be covering issues such as peremption on claims against sureties under Louisiana’s public works act, the current problems with prematurity of third party indemnity demands, claimants’ recovery under both statutory payment bonds and lien bonds, public bid law, and the expanding negligent professional undertaking claims cause of action.
