Joseph A. Rychlak Joins the D’Arcy Vicknair Team

D’Arcy Vicknair is happy to announce the hiring of new associate attorney, Joseph A. Rychlak. Joseph’s primary areas of practice are construction litigation, surety representation, and bankruptcy work. Prior to joining D’Arcy Vicknair, Joseph served as a law clerk for in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi, as well as the United States Bankruptcy Court for both the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana. He then went on to gain practical litigation experience at various firms in Southern Louisiana, working in several different practice areas, with a focus on bankruptcy and commercial civil litigation.

D’Arcy Vicknair is delighted to have Joseph join the team and his extensive bankruptcy experience will compliment D’Arcy Vicknair’s representation of its surety and construction clients.

We are delighted to have Ashley Robinson and Margaret Davis representing D’Arcy Vicknair at the 2023 Annual Women in Construction Conference, held in our nation’s capital, Washington D.C., Thursday, October 19, 2023. The Women in Construction Conference is the East Coast’s premiere forum for education, professional development and networking for women in the build industry. The organization empowers women to continue to grow and achieve success in the community with a “By Women, for Women” motto. Ashley and Margaret spent the morning volunteering with the Check-In Crew, helping check in close to 600 registrants.

Andrew Vicknair and Adrian D’Arcy Recognized as Best Lawyers Again

D’Arcy Vicknair is proud to announce that its founding partners, Andrew Vicknair and Adrian D’Arcy, were both recognized as “Best Lawyers” in the 2024 edition of “Best Lawyers in America.” Both have been recognized consistently over the years: Adrian since 2018 and Andy since 2019. D’Arcy Vicknair Attorneys to Teach at Loyola Law School in the Fall of 2023

 

D’Arcy Vicknair is proud to announce that two of its attorneys, Adrian D’Arcy and Norman Mott, will again have the honor of teaching at Loyola College of Law this Fall. They are both excited to impart their expertise in their respective practices to the students of Loyola’s College of Law.

Adrian will be teaching a class in Construction and Surety law and Norman will be teaching Labor law.

Louisiana Chapter of the ABA FSLC Electronic Payment Bond Deskbook Authored by D’Arcy Vicknair LLC

In recent years, members and Past Chairs of the Fidelity & Surety Law Committee (FSLC) of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association had an idea for a putting together a guide to federal, state and U.S.-territory payment bond law. The committee moved forward with the idea and made it a reality this year. The Electronic Payment Bond Deskbook is a hyperlinked, searchable, PDF document which is to be freely shared and readily accessed by surety professionals.

Adrian enthusiastically took on the task at hand and wrote the Louisiana chapter of the Deskbook, which had its reveal at last week’s FSLC Spring Meeting in Lake Tahoe.

D’Arcy Vicknair founding partner, Adrian D’Arcy, speaking today at the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section, Fidelity and Surety Law Spring Conference with fellow panelists Jessica Derenbecker, Sonny Ingram, Kathleen Maloney, and Jennifer Whritenour, about Conditional Payment Clause Defenses including pay-if-paid, pay-when-paid, and similar conditional payment clauses in modern construction contracts and whether such clauses can prove successful defense for the payment bond surety in each of the 50 states and Canada.

Adrian D’Arcy to be Panelist at Upcoming Fidelity & Surety Law Spring Conference

D’Arcy Vicknair founding partner, Adrian D’Arcy, will be a panelist at the upcoming Fidelity & Surety Law Spring Conference in Lake Tahoe Nevada.

On May 11, 2023, Adrian will co-present a seminar “Conditional Clause Defenses.” Pay-if-paid, pay-when-paid, and similar conditional payment clauses are ubiquitous in modern construction contracts—at least in certain jurisdictions. The panel will break down whether (and where) such clauses can prove successful defenses for the payment bond surety.
