D’Arcy Vicknair is proud to announce that two of its attorneys, Adrian D’Arcy and Norman Mott, will again have the honor of teaching at Loyola College of Law this Fall. They are both excited to impart their expertise in their respective practices to the students of Loyola’s College of Law.
Adrian will be teaching a class in Construction and Surety law and Norman will be teaching Labor law.

In recent years, members and Past Chairs of the Fidelity & Surety Law Committee (FSLC) of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association had an idea for a putting together a guide to federal, state and U.S.-territory payment bond law. The committee moved forward with the idea and made it a reality this year. The Electronic Payment Bond Deskbook is a hyperlinked, searchable, PDF document which is to be freely shared and readily accessed by surety professionals.

On May 11, 2023, Adrian will co-present a seminar “Conditional Clause Defenses.” Pay-if-paid, pay-when-paid, and similar conditional payment clauses are ubiquitous in modern construction contracts—at least in certain jurisdictions. The panel will break down whether (and where) such clauses can prove successful defenses for the payment bond surety.
Serving up drinks and snacks to golfers as they played through, Andy and Ashley were awarded with the “Best Tent” trophy of the tournament. Prior to joining the firm, Alec focused on employment discrimination law and intellectual property law, and is a nationally registered patent attorney. D’Arcy Vicknair founding partner, Andrew Vicknair, will be presenting a seminar, “Construction Licensing” at the upcoming Louisiana State Bar Association’s Construction Law From the Ground Up Program on March 22, 2023.
This program will take attendees through all phases of Louisiana construction law. The program will be presented by an excellent collection of seasoned construction attorneys representing owners, developers, public entities, general contractors, insurers and sureties in all aspects of construction from the initial needs and negotiation through enforcement of rights in the event of disputes.
